Aug 14, 2025
In the highest halls of Asgard, upon his throne Hlidskjalf, sat Odin, the Allfather. From this vantage point, he could see into all the nine realms. But even with his far-seeing eyes, he could not be everywhere at once. For this, he had two loyal servants, two ravens named Hugin and Munin.

The Story of Vafthrudnir, the Wise Giant
Aug 14, 2025
In the ancient halls of Jotunheim, in a fortress built from stones older than memory, there dwelt a giant whose name was spoken with reverence even among the gods of Asgard. Vafthrudnir was not like the crude, violent giants who often troubled the gods with their rampages and destructive ways. He was a scholar and a sage, a keeper of ancient lore who had lived since the earliest days of creation. His memory stretched back to the very beginning of the world, when Ymir’s body was carved up to form the earth and sky, and he had witnessed the rise and fall of countless ages.

Each well served a different purpose in the cosmic order, and each held secrets that even the gods desired to possess.
The most famous of these was the Well of Urd, where the three Norns—Past, Present, and Future—wove the fates of gods and mortals alike. The second was Hvergelmir, the bubbling spring from which all rivers flowed. But it was the third well that would play the most crucial role in the quest for wisdom that defined the character of Odin All-Father.
